Lycos Asia lays off 60 per cent

More bad news for troubled portal business...

NEWS The misery continues for Lycos after the portal's Asian division announced it is to cut 60 per cent of its workforce. In September, Lycos Europe shed 25 per cent of its employees - or 300 workers. Lycos is struggling to stay afloat as internet advertising revenues continue to fall. Lycos Asia will continue to run 11 regional websites but its expected to refocus its business strategy to concentrate on its three core markets: China, Hong Kong and Singapore. Lycos Asia employs 300 staff.
