Alcatel CEO found

He's got his work cut out...

NEWS Alcatel UK has finally appointed a new CEO, months after the last one defected to Juniper Networks. Charles Matthews will oversee the UK and Ireland's business portfolio, which includes satellites, telecoms and submarine networks. However, his first order of business will be to carry out the restructuring of the UK operations. Last week, Alcatel announced the axing of 650 jobs in the UK - 434 full-time and 218 part-time workers - as the company tightens its belt in the face of the current economic downturn. Matthews replaces Eddie Minshull who left to become the managing director of Juniper's EMEA operations in August.
