Nokia shares rise to the occasion

Revenue and profit are down, but at least there's something to get out of bed for...

NEWS Nokia shares rose this morning after the company met profitability targets for the third quarter. Revenue and profit were down from the period a year ago, but shares were up, rising 5.01 per cent on the Stockholm exchange. Nokia reported revenue of E7,050m (£4,402m) for the quarter, a decrease of seven per cent on last year Pre tax profit was E1,068m (£666,978) or E0.16 (£0.09) per share, down from E0.19 (£0.11) per share a year ago. When expenses and one-time charges were accounted for, reported profit dropped to E168m (£104m) or E0.04 (£0.02) a share.
