Beauty products get web facelift

The web will smell sweeter this Christmas...

NEWS Beauty website Gloss.com will be back in business this Christmas, with the backing of cosmetics giant Estee Lauder. The website, which relaunches today just ahead of the busy shopping season, was taken over by Estee Lauder last April, after it folded operations. A relaunch was scheduled for last year but, perhaps learning from earlier mistakes, the backers held on while the technology was fine tuned. Gloss.com is not the only defunct dot-com to put in a surprise reappearance. eToys, also hoping to cash in on the lucrative Christmas period, relaunched last week with the backing of e-tail giant KB holdings. Gloss.com will offer 5,000 products from a range of brand names including Bobbi Brown, Chanel, Clinique and Clarins.
