BT network falls over again

Colossus had a brief lie-down on Friday afternoon. Did it have a boozy lunch?

NEWS BT's national IP network, Colossus, fell over for a second time in a week on Friday afternoon, plunging weary customers into chaos. The network fell over at 14:55(GMT), a spokeswoman confirmed. It was fully restored by 15:45(GMT), she claimed. The cause was the same as the major outage which took the network down earlier in the week. BT is still working with Cisco to find a permanent solution to the problem, but the spokeswoman said an interim measure was implemented on Friday afternoon. She said: "We regret both the initial problem and the repetition, albeit a brief one, that occurred on Friday afternoon."
