NEWS MSNBC.com, the news portal owned by Microsoft and General Electric, is to cut nine per cent of its 200 workforce in a bid to cut costs. The lay offs will hit all departments as the company works to cut costs by 20 per cent, as advertising revenue continues to fall. The layoffs follow cutbacks at the MSNBC television network in October.
