NEWS Journals Nature and Science have teamed up to launch a portal to focus on the needs of developing countries.
SciDev.net is up and running, and covers a range of subjects, from the use of GM crops to AIDS.
In stark contrast to a current trend, the site will contain some content, such as reports, normally only available for a fee.
The venture between two publications normally known for their rivalry is funded by international development agencies in Canada, Sweden and the UK.
