Amazon re-launches egghead.com

It's a jungle out there...

NEWS Amazon.com has breathed new life into battered computer and software site egghead.com. In November, Amazon acquired the assets of the company for $6.1m and re-launched it yesterday. Egghead filed for bankruptcy in August after a failed deal with Fry's Electronics. The US electronics retail chain pulled out of the $10m deal after it found egghead's customer list would not come as part of the deal. Amazon has said it will honour egghead's privacy policy. However, egghead customers returning to the site will have to re-enter their details. This data will then be subject to Amazon's own policy. Last year it changed its privacy policy so that should it be acquired, its customer data would be included as part of the transaction. More on the egghead.com demise, here:
