Wanadoo's star rises on profitability announcement

France Telecom's happy...

NEWS Wanadoo has reported positive results for 2001 and again brought forward the date by which it forecasts it will break even. The ISP group - majority-owned by France Telecom and including the UK's Freeserve business - increased its revenue by 41 per cent to E1.56bn (£966m) last year. It also bumped up subscriber numbers to about six million, with over half a million of those signing up to higher value broadband services. Wanadoo now expects to make a profit - before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation - for the full year 2002.
