Swedish telco defies the downturn

Tele2 boasts £41m profit...

NEWS The second largest telco in Sweden has beaten the sector downturn with a profit for 2001 after adding new subscribers, it said in a preliminary statement. Profits before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the fourth quarter were SKr629m (£41.6m). Tele2 added 1.29 million new subscribers to its network during the quarter, pushing its total customer base up by 30 per cent for the year to 15 million.
