Irish broadband gets an £11m boost

Big government spend for DSL...

NEWS The Irish Government has pledged E18m (£11m) to boost high-speed broadband delivery for the regions. Eircom will roll out new optical fibre network and install DSL systems in Irish towns regarded as key development areas. Eircom will fund 60 per cent of the project's costs with the remaining 40 per cent coming from the Government coffers. In the next ten days the Irish Government will announce E110m (£67m) of funding for telecoms infrastructure projects.
