Vivendi chief bites back

Don't blame me, it was those nasty journalists...

NEWS Vivendi Universal chairman Jean-Marie Messier yesterday hit back at critics, blaming the company's poor stock market performance on bad media coverage. Messier, who yesterday watched as Vivendi claimed the unwelcome accolade of becoming France's worst performing company, said the group had a solid fourth quarter. He added that the company was not the only media group to have issued a profit warning and it had been the victim of rumours and manipulation.
