BA uses web in new battle with easyJet and Ryanair

Come fly with me. Please. Oh, go on...

NEWS Budget airlines easyJet and Ryanair - who have actively used online bookings in a bid to keep prices low - will face renewed competition later this year when British Airways offers big discounts on tickets bought over the internet. BA is expected to announce the initiative, which is part of chief Rod Eddington's 'Future Size and Shape' review, later this week. The move will be a blow to travel agencies that can expect to make seven per cent commission on each ticket sold. That saving will be passed on to BA customers and echoes the model long used by BA's budget rivals.
