AltaVista scraps free web mail

If Hotmail had hands it would be rubbing them together with glee...

NEWS AltaVista is to drop its free email service as it continues to try to keep afloat. Around 400,000 email accounts will be closed on 31 March - leaving users to look elsewhere for a free web mail address. AltaVista will now concentrate all its efforts on trying to make money out of its web search offering.
