BTopenworld responds to broadband bonanza

Reductions from 5 March...

NEWS BTopenworld, BT's ISP business, has unveiled its plans in the light of the telco's dramatic slashing of wholesale price cuts for broadband access. The company said it will offer Plug & Go ADSL from 5 March to its Home 500 and Business 500 customers for £29.99 per month - a price cut of £10. Orders before 31 May will see the £65 activation charge waived. The announcement is significant because other internet providers such as AOL, Freeserve and UUNet/Pipex wanting to offer an ADSL service have to use BT Wholesale and BTopenworld cannot be seen to be benefiting from sharing a parent company. Oftel has said it is keeping an eye on how competitive the set up is.
