NEWS Google, Ask Jeeves and Wanadoo reported the biggest gains in global audience figures during January. Each site attracted 12 to 13 per cent more customers in January than in December, according to worldwide figures from Nielsen/NetRatings. In comparison Yahoo! reported a 3.58 per cent rise, MSN reported a 5.3 per cent jump and Amazon saw a 4.26 per cent decrease in audience figures. On average internet audiences increased over two and a half per cent between December and January. The survey looked at six million people across 29 countries. Google will have received some increase in traffic on the back of silicon.com's report on Googlewhacking (http://www.silicon.com/a50923 ), though we can't take all the credit.
