Nortel puts brakes on "revolutionary" switch

NEWS Nortel has frozen plans to release a " large-scale optical device that was once claimed was crucial for boosting internet connectivity. Nortel acquired the internet switching technology when it bought Xros in a $3.2bn all-stock deal in 2000. At the time, Nortel said the OPTera Connect PX technology was "revolutionary".
