NEWS France Telecom is planning to write off E12bn (£7.4bn) of debt in NTL and MobilCom. The company is struggling to reduce its E65bn (£40bn) debt mountain. France Telecom also said it does not plan to offer a rights issue. The write downs will not affect Orange. France Telecom shares fell around four per cent following the news.
