NEWS Following their regular run-ins during campaigning it is unsurprising that Carly Fiorina, CEO of HP, and Walter Hewlett have failed to see eye to eye now the election is over. Fiorina has pronounced herself the victor - claiming the votes in favour of the merger have produced a "slim but sufficient" majority - enabling the merger to now go ahead. Hewlett, however, remains defiant, claiming the votes are far too close to call. According to the Financial Times, one insider says the margin may be as little as half a per cent in favour of the merger - making it impossible at such an early stage to confidently announce a result. The official vote counting, being carried out by IVS, may yet take as long as a month.
