Dodgy web ads face bleak future...

NEWS The Office of Fair Trading has launched an investigation into the misleading and false advertising which has made its way online in recent years. The government body is investigating so-called 'wonder drugs', many of which make claims that defy the consensus of medical opinion. Among the products the OFT has identified is a drug which claims to cure all know viruses and ailments, including AIDS, cancer, meningitis and flu. The watchdog has also highlighted less serious claims made by other products - such as a tablet, which if taken with a glass of beer will prevent drinkers developing a beer belly. Hotmail users are particularly prone to receiving these kind of offers, with spam emails promising such things as penis growth, hair regeneration, weight loss and cures for impotence - seeming to suggest males are a target audience for such bogus advertising.
