Yahoo! reaps rewards of mega sale

NEWS Yahoo! sales jumped 25 per cent last week following a three day sale billed by the portal as the "biggest sale in internet history". Almost 1,000 discounted items were up for grabs in the promotion, including some of Yahoo!'s own services and goods from over 100 retail partners. Best sellers included extra storage space for Yahoo! email accounts, and HP computers. During the promotion, HP saw revenue on its ecommerce site increase 380 per cent on the same three day period in the previous week. According to Yahoo! other retailers boosted sales by 500 per cent during the sale. The website organised the sale to attract shoppers after revenue suffered a post-Christmas slump.
