NEWS Finnish telecoms operator Sonera and Swedish counterpart Telia saw their share prices soar after confirming they are in merger talks. This morning Sonera was up 5.5 per cent, while Telia saw 4.33 per cent added to its share price. If merged the resulting company would pose a more serious competitive threat to other European telcos. This is not, however, the first time the companies have announced they are considering a merger.
