silicon.com adds to awards tally

Two commendations in a month? Halle Berry, eat your heart out...

NEWS silicon.com scooped second place in the 'Best Website' category at last Friday's IVCA (International Visual Communication Association) awards. The judges described the site, owned by the Silicon Media Group, as: "A well written and targeted... market leader whose good, clean, crisp design helps make it a truly valuable resource for the IT industry. Where else could you read breaking news, 'Christ Makes Web Enabled Lego Robot'." The gold award went to the Comic Relief website. Ealier this month, Silicon Media Group was named as one of the most visionary companies in the UK in the BT Vision 100 index. In the three and a half years of its existence, silicon.com has been nominated for - and won - a whole host of awards, including: New Media Age Awards, finalist for Best of Web award (1999)
BT Ecommerce Awards, winner of Innovation award (1999)
EEA Ebusiness Awards, winner of the Best B2B Website award (2000)
PPA Awards, shortlisted for Best Interactive Publisher (2000)
Electronic Publishing Magazine Awards, winner of the Innovative Use of Technology award (2000)
IVCA Awards, commended for Outstanding Use of Broadband award (2001)
Superbrands Awards, nominated an eBrand Leader - one of Britain's 50 strongest eBrands (2001)
Ranked as a top 10 European ebusiness by the Sunday Times' e-league (2001)
