Court keeps Napster shut

Music site still silenced...

By Kate Hanaghan, 26 March 2002 08:00

NEWS An appeal courts in the US yesterday upheld a Federal Judge's ruling to keep Napster closed. Until the internet music swap-shop can remove all copyrighted music from the site its doors must remain firmly closed. Napster has failed to take its offering back into the mainstream despite testing a secure music payment service. The record companies that originally took the one-time high flyer to court have yet to commit to any licensing deals. Bertelsmann is a major Napster backer and is working with the company to get the service up and running again.
