NEWS There are red faces at online car retailer autobytel today after it offered a Hyundai car for sale at -£91, 460". A spokeswoman for the site blamed a Java feed for the bizarre negative price but couldn't say how many had been ordered. silicon.com was contacted by a reader who was delighted to have placed several orders for the car-plus-cash deal. Autobytel has a customer charter, point six of which reads: "Prices quoted for online prices should be actual (as the internet operates in real time) and honoured by all web traders." However, Allen Scott, general manager of marketing at Inchscape, parent company of autobytel, said: "There's clearly been a mistake here which we need to sort out with the customer. But the real problems arise when prices are one or two thousand pounds wrong because then people think they've got the best deal. I think most people would realise this is a mistake." Are you expecting delivery of a new Hynudai with 90 grand in the boot? If it arrives do let us know.
