ITV Digital put on the market

A certain death for smaller football clubs?...

NEWS ITV Digital is formally up for sale with the BBC and BSkyB thought to be interested buyers. The move by the company's administrators, Deloitte and Touche, further jeopardises the ability of the Football League to recover the £179m it claims it is owed in television rights. It is rumoured BBC and BSkyB are looking to buy the company, attracted by the 1.26m subscriber base. ITV Digital's owners, Carlton Communications and Granada, are looking for a quick sale in order to offload the daily £1m running costs.
