NEWS Visa has expanded its online authentication offering with the launch of a verification service for card issuers. The new application will enable banks to access the Verified by Visa service which authenticates the details of card owners for online purchases. Hugo Bottelier, vice president of Virtual Visa, explained that banks will be attracted to the service because it encourages customers to spend more online. Verified by Visa also aims to reduce fraud by preventing customers denying having made a purchase. The service will be hosted by BT Ignite.
