Now it's Cable & Chairmanless

Telco loses its head...

NEWS Cable & Wireless chairman Sir Ralph Robins is to quit amid shareholder pressure following a period of poor performance by the company. The telecoms slump has seen the company fall into sharp decline, with price cutting across the sector, and increased competition forcing down revenues. In February the company announced its third profit warning in 12 months. Shares in C&W closed on Friday at 202.75p - well down on the 52-week high of 497.5p. Robins departure is expected as early as the end of this week.
