DT TV: German telco looks for buyer

Six channels. One previous owner...

NEWS Having failed in its bid to sell six regional TV channels to Liberty Media early this year, Deutsche Telekom has officially put them up for sale again. The Liberty Media deal was blocked by the German cartel office, the equivalent to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission in the UK. Now it's hoping to raise a figure comparable to the E5.5bn Liberty originally offered. Unlike BT in the UK, DT has been reluctant to sell off assets to reduce its debt mountain. However, the TV business is known to be one area where the company is happy to make an exit. No media company has yet publicly declared interest in the TV channels.
