CA shows signs of recovery

Losses narrowing

NEWS Computer Associates finances are starting to look up as the company reports reasonable results for the fourth quarter. The company has managed to limit its losses for the period ending March 2002 to just $3m, and increasing revenue from $747m to $772m. Losses stood at $33m in its previous quarter. In addition the company said over the past 12 months it has managed to repay $580m of its debt and shave 17 per cent off costs through redundancies. Sanjay Kumar, president and CEO of CA, said he was pleased with the company's performance. He claimed the company had benefited substantially from the shorter term licensing that had been recently introduced.
