All smiles at eBay...

NEWS Yahoo!, the portal and search engine group, is pulling the plug on its online auction business across large swathes of Europe, handing victory to rival eBay. Despite being one of the biggest portals in the world, Yahoo! trailed eBay and - in many countries - RicardoQXL in the auction business. According to reports Yahoo! will cease to offer the service within the next two months. The countries affected include UK, France and Germany. Only Denmark, Sweden and Germany will survive. This morning's Wall Street Journal reports that Yahoo! and eBay have already struck up a deal to promote the latter's service on the Yahoo! portals. The size of the deal was not disclosed.
