NEWS Ailing German telecoms giant Deutsche Telekom is to axe 22,000 staff as it continues to struggle with escalating debts. The cuts, to be made over the next two years, are expected to come through natural attrition rather than by compulsory redundancies, according to CEO Ron Sommer who was speaking to German newspaper Bild am Sonntag. Deutsche Telekom currently employs around 245,000 staff.
