The mysterious case of the imaginary Gingers

It was a dark and stormy night...

NEWS Two Gingers, or Segway Human Transporters, up for auction on eBay are attracting a lot of attention from bidders despite question marks over the authenticity of the sale. The machines have already attracted 19 bids, with the highest offering $10,100. However, according to US wires, the authenticity of the auction has been questioned by Segway, which said it doubts the scooters on offer are genuine. The Segways have been put up for auction by an organisation called the "AI Foundation". Segway said it has not supplied any units to the firm. A spokesman for Segway is reported as saying: "We have pretty good accounting for all of our machines." "I'd be very surprised if they had units to auction."
