Lastminute.com has taken a £2.4m share in Lufthansa's online travel centre in a bid to create the largest German online travel agency.

Martha Lane Fox's company has acquired a 20 per cent stake in LCC24.com, Lutfhansa's City Center website, with the potential to buy more shares over the next three years.

As part of the deal, Lastminute will provide and manage the website technology for LCC24.com as well as jointly source and promote holidays and flights.

An application has been made to the UK Listing Authority for the shares to trade on the London Stock Exchange. However, they are not expected to start trading until Wednesday 12 June.
