NEWS British Airways customers travelling in premium class cabins will soon be able to surf the net while they fly. The world's favourite airline is installing Connexion broadband technology in its First, Club and World Traveller Plus classes for a trial period of three months starting February 2003. The technology, developed by Boeing, will enable travellers to use their own laptops to read emails, surf the internet or access corporate intranets. In addition, it could mean BA will be able to broadcast live TV and radio shows during flights. BA said it took the decision to commence with the pilot after research showed that 75 per cent of its business travellers used their laptops during a flight and were extremely or very interested in accessing the internet while flying.
