Audiogalaxy: 'This is the end'

NEWS File swapping network Audiogalaxy will pay compensation to members of the music industry for illegally supplying music for download. The network agreed to pay a "substantial sum" to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA) in an out of court settlement. Audiogalaxy also agreed to install a filtering system that would prevent files from moving around the network without permission from the publisher. A source from file swapping site Gnutella told silicon.com: "This is the end for Audiogalaxy as it's unlikely to be able to get hold of any decent music from the publishers now, but it's not the end for everyone else. Other free sites will keep popping up, as usual." Audiogalaxy's music catalogue now contain a pitiful selection of files after it agreed to remove most of the tunes from its site as part of the deal.
