NEWS Division three football club Cambridge United is offering fans the chance to bid for a place in the first team squad. The winner of the auction, which is being hosted by QXL, will be given the number 51 shirt in home and away colours and will receive a season ticket. The winner will be signed on a non-contract basis, and according to the club's official website even stands a chance of getting onto the bench if there is a "major injury crisis". While that is highly unlikely the lucky fan will appear in the official team photograph, attend a pre-season training session and get a framed copy of their official FA registration papers - showing they were once a professional footballer. The bidding, which ends on 19 July, currently stands at £1,101.
