NEWS US e-tailer Buy.com is to slash the price of its books to try and wrest market share away from industry heavyweight Amazon.com. While Buy.com is already cheaper than Amazon.com on many of its books, according to US newswire reports it will now offer a price promise - guaranteeing to refund the difference, plus 10 per cent of the full price, if the customer finds their book cheaper on Amazon.com. This is the latest in a line of attacks on Amazon's market share by Buy.com. The smaller e-tailer recently offered US shoppers free shipping on any purchased goods - bettering Amazon's own offer of free shipping on purchases costing more than $49.
