NEWS Sam Wyly, the Texas billionaire who last year failed to take control of the Computer Associates board is about to launch a fresh attack. The Texan, through his group Ranger Governance will put forward five candidates in a bid to challenge the eleven-member strong board. Last year, Wyly had planned to take complete control of the CA board after selling two businesses to the company. But influential backers of his plan dropped out after CA promised to make improvements to both its customer relations and its corporate governance. However, CA has since run into trouble over its accountancy and its stock has lost nearly 50 per cent. Details of the new bid were released to Reuters news service by sources close to the situation.
