NEWS BT Wholesale is spending £1.3m on NetQuad - a network management tool from Anite Telecoms. BT believes the software will allow it to better plan and manage the network. NetQuad allows network managers to model the traffic on a network and make better use of the capacity they have. Warren Saunders, business manager at Anite, said: "This deal is primarily about saving capacity on BT Wholesale's existing network. We're installing our software and integrating it with BT's other technologies, then BT Wholesale will be able to manage it themselves." Saunders added: "Until we've got information from their network we don't know exactly how inefficient it is. We have no definitive view on how much the business will save until our initial diagnosis is carried out." The contract is due to run for two years and may be extended for another two while BT Wholesale rolls the technology out to other areas of its business.
