One in two will book this year's holiday online

But it's not all good news...

NEWS Online travel agents have reason to be cheerful this morning as research from Clear Commerce reveals that 53 per cent of UK holidaymakers will book this year's break online. Men are more likely to have already used the internet to buy a holiday - 71 per cent of men have booked online, compared to 53 per cent of women. But online shoppers tend to be looking for cheaper, short haul and city breaks. Most are looking to spend less than £500. For long-haul travel the high street travel agent still rules. Clear Commerce talked to 250 people.
