NEWS A US couple are auctioning off the right to name their baby on eBay.
The couple, Bob and Tracy Armstrong from Florida, have placed the unusual lot (item number 1746979757) on eBay stipulating that the name:
1) Cannot be anything that may be considered profane or offensive in nature.
2) Cannot infringe on any Trademarks or Copyrights.
3) The name can only be one word in length. (English Alphabet)
The baby is due next February and bidders are asked to submit two names - one for a boy and one for a girl.
Although the couple promise to use the name submitted by the successful bidder and will provide a copy of the birth certificate as proof they are keeping control of the middle name as an insurance against something bully-invitingly outlandish that might make the child's life a misery.
The Armstrongs say the proceeds raised from the auction, which has nine days left to run, will go into a college fund for the child.
So far bidding has hit $511, with eBay user wearetheBorg leading the way - suggesting baby Armstrong may well be saddled with a Star Trek-related moniker.
