eBay splashes out on a private jet

Dot-com excess alive and well and living in eBay towers...

NEWS In a gesture of defiance to the dot-com crash, auction firm eBay has purchased its own $30m corporate jet to fly its busy executives around the world. According to US reports, eBay has spent the money on a second hand Falcon 900EX, and hopes to save cash in the long term by cutting down flight expenditure and cutting airport waiting time. The online auction house is possibly the only dot-com left that can afford the 1999-style luxury of a corporate jet. The firm has now reported continuous profits for more than two years and has a share price that has actually risen sharply to be more than double what it was at the end of 2000.
