Cisco reaches for Ayr

$113m all-stock deal...

NEWS Cisco has bought US software company Ayr Networks. The deal, worth $113m in Cisco stock, sees the networking giant taking over the Californian router software company during the next few weeks. Cisco already holds a minority stake in the firm. The purchase of Ayr sees Cisco developing software for distributed routing architectures as well as developing better router software with multiple functions. Ayr Networks, founded in 2000, has 30 employees who will all join Cisco Internet Technologies Division.
