Sean and Napster's bogus journey set for the silver screen

Most Excellent...

NEWS Music channel MTV has signed a deal with Napster founder Sean Fanning to make a film charting the rise and fall of the peer-to-peer pioneer. A spokeswoman for MTV said the movie will focus on Fanning's personal saga as he transformed from an obscure college student into a symbol of the freewheeling internet boom. Fanning developed the Napster software while he was a student at Northeastern University. He then dropped out to start a business based on the program, and the rest, as they say, is history. The movie, scheduled for release sometime during the 2003 or 2004, is reportedly being written and directed by pop video director Alex Winter, who is most famous for playing Bill S Preston in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and ...Bogus Journey. MTV said it hasn't cast anybody yet to play the Napster founder in the movie, but Fanning himself is reportedly in the running for the role. Lisa M Bowman writes for News.com
