Expedia to refund holidays spoilt by war

Don't let Bush/Blair ruin your vacation/holiday...

NEWS Travel website Expedia has announced it will waive cancellation penalties for customers postponing holidays in the event of war. Charges usually applied to customers cancelling hotel reservations or rental car bookings will be dropped for any holidaymakers put off by the war against Iraq which looks set to begin any time now. With the US and the UK defying international consensus and ploughing ahead with a war against the Middle Eastern country there are fears of terrorist retaliation against Bush and Blair's actions. The fear and uncertainty resulting from this means many travellers may be encouraged to cancel holidays - especially where air travel is concerned. However, Expedia is not promising to refund air fares - saying it is bound to follow each individual carrier's own rules about cancellations and refunds. Similarly anybody who has booked a cruise is bound by the individual cruise line's rules. Any customers wishing to cancel their trips must contact Expedia within 14 days of the outbreak of war or the announcement of a 'code red' national security status in the US.
