Microsoft makes second embarrassing iLoo U-turn

First it was real, then it was a joke and now it's becoming a real joke...

NEWS Microsoft has made a second embarrassing U-turn on its iLoo invention - a web enabled toilet which was set to be trialled at this summer's music festivals. Yesterday Microsoft claimed that the portaloo, which was reported to come complete with wireless keyboard, plasma screen and high-speed web access, was nothing more than an untimely April Fool - despite the fact that the announcement on the launch was made on 2 May. However, it appears the joke may actually be on Microsoft, as the company yesterday changed its mind yet again - claiming the iLoo was a genuine innovation, though admitting it is unlikely it will ever see the light of day. According to Microsoft's latest attempt to address the subject, the iLoo was the work of the company's UK division, but it has been shelved after the initial announcement drew ridicule from the press and public. At the time of yesterday's retraction of the initial announcement cynics were suggesting Microsoft was merely trying to make light of a botched launch and very few people seemed to swallow the implausible 'April Fool' claims. Lisa Gurry, MSN group product manager, told Reuters: "Corporate headquarters in Redmond, Washington, looked at it and decided maybe this wasn't a good idea."
