NEWS BT has won a contract to provide a managed network for Fibernet's new call centre voice services. Fibernet's new Callchoice portfolio is initially targeted at the UK call centre market with clearer pricing structures for heavy users of inbound 08xx telephone numbers. Commercial customers will now be able to define how they would prefer to pay for each service element. BT Wholesale's £5.5m Facilities Managed Network includes network and performance monitoring and fault management. Fibernet said it chose BT because it offered a reduction in operating costs and a low-risk entry into the voice market with no upfront costs. This will allow Fibernet to concentrate on core business activities such as marketing, sales, service specification, development and management. Charles McGregor, CEO of Fibernet, said the move to BT will ensure customers get a "robust" package for "excellent" value. Stuart Horwood, managing director of BT Wholesale Markets said the managed service gives Fibernet low-risk market entry and "highly competitive" commercial arrangements.
