NEWS BT has signed a £3m deal with Aviva to manage the insurance group's worldwide network infrastructure.
Aviva's sites in 37 countries will be connected to the group headquarters in London using a managed multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network.
The new MPLS network will deliver fixed link IP data services and enable faster access to corporate information through the Aviva global intranet for its 56,000 employees.
BT will also deliver a secure managed email service while consolidation to a single platform and supplier will reduce costs for Aviva.
Danny Janssens, IT solutions engineering director at Aviva, said that in addition to cost savings the deal will support the rollout of new services, such as secure email, and make the insurance group more cost-effective and competitive.
The deal is an extension of BT's existing relationship with Aviva.
