NEWS BT has inked a €31m, five-year deal with the Dutch police.
The telco will supply the Netherlands' force with a fixed network infrastructure to link up country's 26 regional forces with a view to improved communications, including voice and data integration and videoconferencing.
The network will extend to 1,100 police offices and other locations.
BT's deal with the Dutch police service comes as part of the telco's deal to establish its new wave businesses - that is, distance itself from its flagging voice business and branch out into new areas, including its mobile and broadband arms.
BT recently decided to pour some £26m into promoting its new communications direction and has won a series of network convergence deals including one to install a global IP backbone for AstraZeneca and another to supply National Air Traffic Services with a VPN.
BT's new wave services contributed over £900m to the company coffers in the first quarter of this year.
